'Your place or mine?'
With more and more
young people spending time overseas, VSO and Tourism Concern have
produced ‘Your Place or Mine?’, a short film to help young travellers
get the most out of their experience, and make sure that the impact
they have on the communities they visit is a positive one.
Copies of the film are available price £5.00 (to cover postage and packing). For more information, check www.tourismconcern.org.uk or www.vso.org.uk
Top 5 Travel Tips
- Guide books – use sparingly. Talk to local people, and discover your own adventure!
- Ask before you photograph. Don’t treat people as part of the landscape, and ask before you snap.
- Be aware of your environmental impact. Take biodegradable products and a water filter bottle.
- Dress codes – read up before you go, and respect local customs. You wouldn’t go to the supermarket in a bikini at home, so why do it when you’re travelling?
- Pay a fair price. Bargaining can be fun, but pay a fair price. A few pence can help make a difference to the vendor’s livelihood.
