'Your place or mine?'

With more and more young people spending time overseas, VSO and Tourism Concern have produced ‘Your Place or Mine?’, a short film to help young travellers get the most out of their experience, and make sure that the impact they have on the communities they visit is a positive one.

Copies of the film are available price £5.00 (to cover postage and packing). For more information, check www.tourismconcern.org.uk or www.vso.org.uk

Top 5 Travel Tips

  1. Guide books – use sparingly. Talk to local people, and discover your own adventure!
  2. Ask before you photograph. Don’t treat people as part of the landscape, and ask before you snap.
  3. Be aware of your environmental impact. Take biodegradable products and a water filter bottle.
  4. Dress codes – read up before you go, and respect local customs. You wouldn’t go to the supermarket in a bikini at home, so why do it when you’re travelling?
  5. Pay a fair price. Bargaining can be fun, but pay a fair price. A few pence can help make a difference to the vendor’s livelihood.
